This Vice President position serves as the primary leader and spokesperson for two BBB National Programs self-regulatory and accountability programs - Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) and Teen-Age Privacy Program (TAPP). With budgetary responsibility, this position leads a professional team, and manages program development, innovation and growth. This position requires a demonstrated interest and experience in issues relating to advertising and data privacy in the children’s and teen space along with strong familiarity with COPPA. 7+ years-experience, JD, strong leadership, coalition building, and written and verbal communication skills required. Prior in-house counsel privacy or advertising counsel, Chief Privacy Officer, or similar work experience and experience collaborating with senior in-house counsel at major corporations strongly preferred.
Based in our Northern Virginia headquarters offices, the Arbitration Hearing Coordinator is an energetic, detail-oriented professional that will be the face of the McLean-based Arbitration Hearing Site. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders and strong organization skills to orchestrate effective, high-quality arbitration hearings that are a good experience for all participants.
Based in our Northern Virginia headquarters offices, this position will provide direct administrative support to the Membership team, and serves as the first point of contact for visitors.
Based in our New York office, the National Advertising Division (NAD) Deputy Director guides the advertising industry's self-regulatory forum in conducting judicial-caliber advertising review proceedings that involve evaluating complex scientific and consumer perception evidence to ensure that advertising claims are truthful and accurate. The Deputy Director manages NAD attorneys on case handling and case management; plans NAD’s annual conference and other similar programing; engages in long-range thinking and planning; and collaborates with corporate departments on financial, marketing/communications, human resources, technology and legal matters. Must have a JD with 10+ years of experience; 5+ years managerial experience (advertising/marketing law experience in-house at a major corporation, major law firm, or relevant government agency preferred); high ethical values; excellent writing, advocacy and public speaking skills; an in-depth knowledge of advertising law; and proficiency with technical data including statistical models, product testing and sensory perception.
National Advertising Division (NAD) Attorneys serve as fact-finders and decision-makers in the advertising industry's self-regulatory forum, conducting judicial caliber advertising review proceedings that involve evaluating complex scientific and consumer perception evidence to ensure that advertising claims are truthful and accurate. NAD Attorneys must be sufficiently experienced to inspire the confidence of the global national advertisers, often represented by counsel from top tier law firms, that submit their disputes to NAD. Attorneys make reasoned decisions based on multiple layers of disputed evidence and memorialize their reasoning in a top quality semi-judicial opinion. Each decision serves as precedent for future advertising disputes and guidance for the advertising industry generally. NAD Attorneys must have high ethical values, excellent writing, advocacy and public speaking skills, and an in-depth knowledge of advertising law, NAD precedent, and proficiency with technical data including statistical models, product testing and sensory perception.
